As I continued to navigate my way through the canyons of NY…AIDS was spreading rapidly. I don’t know how many people I lost to AIDS. On the evening of February 16, 1990 I heard the news of Keith Haring’s death and rushed downtown to the Pop Shop. When I arrived there was no traffic, the police had blocked off the street. I remember how quiet it was as a crowd gathered and the sidewalk was covered with candles and flowers.
